In our last article, 3 Things to Do When Selling Your Collection, you learned why it’s important to consider the demand of your cards, why you should evaluate what cards you have, and why you shouldn’t rush the sale. Now that you know what you should do, let’s look at what you shouldn’t do.
- Don’t Neglect Your Cards Before the Sale: When we say neglect, we mean don’t leave them in a box unprotected where they can get damaged. As many collectors know, the condition of a card is super important, especially on older cards (the better the condition, the more a buyer will be willing to spend). Even if they have been stored away for a while, make sure they have protective sleeves.
- Don’t Try to Fix Your Cards: As mentioned, the condition of your cards is important. That’s why some people get discouraged when they see that their cards could be in better condition. For instance, if the corner isn’t sharp, they may try to cut it themselves. When you do this, serious collectors will be able to notice, and it could make the card worthless.
- Don’t Sell Your Cards Online: Selling online, especially when you have valuable cards, can be risky. There are many scams that people accidentally fall into, both when they’re buying and when they’re selling baseball cards.
At American Legends, we have experience buying and selling baseball cards. That means that you don’t have to risk your cards when you sell online. Instead, we’ll offer you a fair price for your collection.
