#1 Get Involved in Online Communities
Whether Facebook groups, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, or other social media channels: Card collector groups are everywhere. As you read the posts, comment, and share your collection, you’ll find that you are happier in two ways: You feel satisfied when you see your friends’ comments, and you feel good when they are so excited about your collection.
#2 Collect What You Are Interested In
Don’t hunt for cards just because they’re famous or valuable. Look for what you like. It’s not that easy to make money with sports cards. So, make sure you’ve fun with it. Buy sports cards in the best condition you can afford. This will pay off when it’s time to sell them.
#3 Review Your Collection Regularly
When you collect sports cards, sometimes you can not stop thinking about the next card you get. But if you need to stop looking ahead, you can take some time to look back – go through part of your collection each week or month. Just rotate your cards and go through them; do this periodically. #5 Complete a Set For One Player’s Base Cards
If you plan to collect all the base cards of a player from the 80s, you don’t need to manage many cards. But if you want to organize a player from the last 20 years, you might want to limit the number of cards you wish to collect.
For example, if you want to collect Mike Schmidt cards, you should buy his Donruss, Fleer, and Topps cards throughout his career. However, if you start collecting Steph Curry cards, you should focus your collection on one Panini product, like Prizm or Donruss. Focusing on one specific person or product might help to make collecting more manageable for novice collectors.
#6 Be Patient With Your Acquisitions
It can be tempting but don’t buy everything you see. You’ll probably end up paying too much. The hunt is the most crucial part of collecting.
#7 Store Your Cards In A Safe Place
Protect your cards with holders and toploaders, and keep them in a controlled climate. If your cards are worth thousands of dollars, insure them. Also remember that PSA holders are not waterproof.
