At American Legends, we’re passionate about collecting sports cards. This is why we collect players from different sports and eras. By doing this, we’re able to collect a wide range of sports cards. In order to complete our sets, however, there are many cards that we’re still missing. Our list is long, as we’re missing players from baseball, hockey, basketball, and even football teams. Although the list is extensive, one of the sets that we’re looking for is the 1965-66 Coca Cola hockey set.
During this time, the 1964-65 Topps ‘Tall Boys’ set was popular among collectors. When the 1965-66 Coca Cola set was released, however, you didn’t necessarily buy them; you had to drink Coke products. In order to get just one team set of 18 cards, you had to collect ten bottle caps from Coca-Cola or Sprite that had the desired team on the cap liner.
The full set was a total of 108 cards that was made up of six teams, with 18 cards per team. In order to get this, collectors would’ve had to drink at least 60 Cokes or Sprites. Although these cards weren’t as good as quality as the 1964-65 Topps set, the way that they were distributed made them more interesting.
These cards are characterized by their simple black and white front. On the front, the player’s picture is posted with their name at the bottom of the card. The back of the card has their name, vitals, and statistics in the NHL.
Over time, these cards have become more valuable. How valuable they are, however, depends on whether or not the set is complete, and the quality of the cards. If you have a 1965-66 Coca Cola set and you’re ready to sell baseball cards, give us a call at American Legends. When you sell baseball cards to us, it helps us complete our set, which is important to any sports card buyers in NJ.
